Muay Thai, also known as Thai boxing, was created hundreds of years ago by Thai farmers who, to avoid accidents, began training in fighting and self-defense without weapons, according to the CBMT (Brazilian Confederation of Muay Thai). The modality is also known as the art of 8 weapons, as it uses 2 fists, 2 elbows, 2 knees, and 2 shins/feet for defense and attack.

This martial art gained much popularity in its home country during the reign of Phra Chao Sua, known as the Tiger King, in the early 18th century. Under the command of this king, who was a great fighter. The country began to teach Thai Boxing both in schools and in the army.

Muay Thai Celebrated  Day

People worldwide celebrate Muay Thai Day on March 17th. The date marks the anniversary of the competition in which the legendary fighter Nai Khanom Tom. Who was a prisoner of war of the Burmese, defeated several warriors in consecutive fights, winning his freedom, as promised by the king of his opponents. The warrior is considered the father of Thai Boxing.
